This month’s flavor of the month was another no-brainer for me. I am very passionate about marriage and love being married. In January, Eric and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, so it’s only fitting to focus on marriage this month. This will probably not be the only time that marriage will be the flavor of the month, but I don’t think you will mind.
The Wedding Is ONLY The Beginning
I have met so many couples engaged to be married that are more focused on the wedding day than their actual marriage. I have fond memories of my wedding day and still enjoy watching the video of our ceremony especially now with my daughters. They love seeing me dressed like a “princess” and I love listening to Eric and I recite our vows. We wrote our own vows and seeing now how much of a hand God had in our vows amazes me. Seeing how God brought together two very different and imperfect people and knitted them together in a way that only He can.
The oneness you share is so beautiful and life changing. I, like many of you, hold my title of wife very dear to my heart. You’ll always remember that moment at your wedding when you were first announced as husband and wife. Yet you soon realize after being married for more that 5 minutes, that the ‘I dos’ were the easy part. After the pictures are taken, the toasts are made, the cake is cut, the bouquet is tossed, and the DJ has played the last song, that is when real life begins.
Marriage does take a lot of work, but it is so worth it. It is fun and rewarding, yet revealing and challenging. Marriage can help to strengthen your faith and also test it. It can take you places you never thought you could go and also places you never wanted to go. Marriage allows you to see things in your husband that no one else can see. Yet, also allows him to see things in you that not even you can see. The truths of marriage, like life, can be messy, but despite it all you could not imagine your life any other way or with any other person.
So this month we are going to take a closer look at our marriages. Finding ways to make them better and taking the time to enjoy the blessing that our marriages already are. Not only allowing ourselves not just to grow closer to our husbands, but also growing closer to God.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this month’s flavor of the month
