Life is all about relationships. We are born into them. The moment we are born we became someone’s daughter. If we happen to have siblings, we are someone’s sister and the list goes on and on. Then as we get older we get to choose the relationships we are in. We become someone’s friend, someone’s wife, and often someone’s mother. All of them are important. Most of the labels we carry are attributed to the relationships we have with others.
God created us to be in relationships. Not just with Him, but also with each other. My most treasured memories and experiences have been shared with those I am in relationship with. Whether it was the moment I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Or the moment I became a wife and then later a mother. Or something a simple as the first time I pressed on the first blog post and we began this journey together.
All the experiences that I will always treasure are based on the relationships formed and shared experience, not because of the events themselves. Not only are the experience we have important, so is the growth that happens. We grow so much in relationships, so it is important we spend the time necessary nurturing the relationships we have.
So I decided instead of having relationships as just the flavor of the month, we’re going to have it as the flavor of the summer. We are going to look at several of the relationships we all have in our lives and find ways to nurture them, grow them and make them better.
In order to have healthy life-giving relationships, we have to be intentional. So while the kids are out of school for a little while and we are not tied as closely as we usually are to our schedules and routines, we’re going to focus some attention on some of the areas of our lives that often mean the most to us, our relationships.
Are you with me? And if so, which I hope you are ?,
what’s one relationship you have that you would like to grow in and be more intentional about?
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
