We have lives and live in a world filled with choices. My husband, Eric, was watching the movie the “Matrix” the other day and all I wanted to see in the movie was the scene when Neo has to choose between the red or the blue pill. I love this scene in the movie because it depicts our own lives in so many ways. We make choices daily that are influenced by different things. As Christ followers, our actions should be influenced by the Holy Spirit within us. The fruit that is produced in us and through us should be evidence of His presence. While striving to live more Christ-centered lives, it is important that we are mindful of the fruit we possess and are expressing fruits of the Spirit.
With free will comes the ability to choose, our thoughts, words, actions, and what motivates us. We have to choose daily to live lives that not just please God, but that are also Spirit lead.
The Bible speaks a lot about fruit, both good and bad fruit. We should all desire to experience good fruit, not just in our lives, but in the lives of others. Especially in our marriages, families, and communities. As a mother, I try to always be conscious of my actions because I know my daughters are watching.
Our children are watching not just to see what we are doing, but also as a guide to how they should act. In order to make sure we are setting the right examples, we should be aware of the fruits of the Spirit.
We all want marriages full of love. Lives that are filled with joy and peace. We all need to encourage and be encouraged in having better self-control and more patience. Pursuing all these things and encouraging others to do the same is definitely not easy, but worth the effort.
So this month we are going to put in the work necessary. We are going to look at different ways to help us all live lives that consistently bear the fruits of the Spirit. Are you with me?!
I’d love to know which fruits of the Spirit you struggle with the most
or have grown in the most in the comments!
